The Oisans,
is a concentrated version of the Alps in one mountain range and six
valleys!
Centred around its capital, Bourg d'Oisans,
its international resorts - Les
2 Alpes and L'Alpe d'Huez - and the Ecrins
National Park, the Oisans will offer you all the joys of
the mountains, summer and winter alike.
23 resorts and villages are ready
for your visit so that you can learn about all the features of the
mountains. The Oisans is above all flora and fauna that have been
conserved and authentic history and culture.
Explore really special countryside with famous peaks like (the
Meije 3,983 m, the Barre
des Écrins 4,102 m), vast plateaus, green valleys,
lakes, waterfalls...
During the summer, the Oisans is an exceptional area, especially for
keen cyclists, mountain bikers, hikers, mountaineers...
In winter, the different ski areas offer you the possibility of every
type of skiing, whether you are a beginner or an expert. |
 Places
to visit, cultural heritage |
- Bourg d'Oisans, the capital
of the Oisans, and the villages of Venosc, La Grave, Besse en
Oisans (on the French Listed Buildings register).
- Typical roads in the Oisans,
to be explored by bicycle, on a motorcycle or in a car..., the
21 bends leading to L'Alpe d'Huez (made famous by the Tour de
France).
- The site of La Bérarde, the
Emparis plateau (an extraordinary viewpoint for looking at the
North Face of the Meije), the Alpine Garden at the Col du Lautaret,
the Lac du Lauvitel, the Lac des Quirlies, the panoramic view
from the Pic Blanc, the Croisière Blanche and the visit to the
ice cave.
- The Museum of Alpine Minerals
and Fauna in Bourg d'Oisans, the Memories of Climbing in the Alps
Museum in St Christophe en Oisans, the Grand Maison dam and the
Hydrelec Museum, the Chazal Lento Museum in Mont de Lans featuring
the traditions of the Oisans, the La Romanche Museum in Rioupéroux,
the Huez and Oisans Museum in L'Alpe d'Huez.
- In summer, more than 150 events
are organized in the Oisans villages and resorts (haymaking festival,
bread festival, mountain bike World Cup, music festival, international
magic festival...).
Sporting activities
- in summer : cycle touring,
mountain bike, all levels of walking and hiking, mountaineering,
rock climbing, via ferrata, white water sports (rafting, hydrospeed,
canyoning...),
- in winter : all types of
winter and mountain sports.
